People ask why three. One would be faster. The answer is that each fitting is looking for something the previous one could not see.
The first, for the body
You stand still. We are reading structure: shoulder slope, the drop from chest to waist, whether one blade sits forward of the other. Almost nobody is symmetrical, and the first fitting exists to find out how you are not.
The second, for movement
You sit. You reach. You put your hands in your pockets and take them out again. A jacket that fits a standing man and binds when he drives has not been fitted, it has been photographed. This is where the armhole gets decided, and the armhole is most of the argument.
The third, so you forget it
By now the shape is right and we are working in millimetres. Sleeve length against your shirt cuff. Where the button sits relative to your natural waist. The collar closing flat against the neck when you turn your head.
This one is short. If the first two were done properly, the third is quiet.
And where they happen
At the showroom on San Lorenzo, or at your residence, your office, or your hotel suite. The fitting travels. Monday to Friday, ten to six. Saturday by appointment.
